The Cathedral Church of the Redemption serves the community through its activities in education and health. The Leprosy patient's Children's Education Fund (LPCEF) The LPCEF, a progressive educational project ''to help children first", was begun by the Brotherhood of the Ascended Christ under the initiative of Fr Amos Rajamoney in 1971. In 1974, the Cathedral Church of the Redemption adopted this programme under the banner LPCEF. The project's priority is to channel funds as effectively as it can, for the greatest possible benefit of education of the children of parents suffering from leprosy. With a non-religious focus, only five out of 182 children are Christiasn, the project aims to:
Contributions LPCEF welcomes contributions from corporates and individuals to support our effort. All donations are used to assist the programme development and purchase of new materials. Any contribution, be it time, money, talent, skills or thoughts - will make a difference. There are 182 children in sixteen institutions supported by this project. Average cost of educating a child is about Rs 25,000/- per annum for school children and about Rs 1,00,000/- per annum for those pursuing nursing and other professional courses. Our institutional sponsors are Leprosy Mission of India, Women's Fellowship and Youth Fellowship of this Church and the many families and individuals from India and abroad. |
